Davis Prantley, II was born on September 22, 1970 to Davis & Margaret Prantley. He was a musical baby. He began banging on pots and pans as early as the age of two. He learned to play the piano at the age of 5. He composed his own melodies from the age of 6. D2, as he is called, began his professional musical career at the age of 14 when he began writing songs for a group of his friends called The Pretty Boys. The Pretty Boys were six of D2 that went to high school with him. He heard them singing one day outside in the school yard. The Pretty Boys had some great harmony, but they were singing some crappy songs. That's exactly what D2 told them when he introduced himself to them in the school yard that day. The boys beat D2 up. D2 went home and wrote two songs that would compliment the boys' voices. D2 came back the next day and told them that their songs were still crap and asked if he could teach them a couple of songs that would make their voices sound great. The boys said yea. Right there on the spot, D2 taught The Pretty Boys two new songs with the whole school yard watching. At the next school talent show, The Pretty Boys sung and won the contest. From then on, D2 wrote for The Pretty Boys. D2 wrote songs for other kids from his school. Two of the songs were recorded by a group. D2 did not receive any money or credit for those songs. He went to his father and told him what had happened. That was when D2's father found out that his son could write music. Davis Prantley, I proceeded to sue the group, the record company, and the producers of D2's songs. They eventually settled out of court. The money that D2 received from the settle was used to go to college and get a degree in musical production. While D2 was in college, his father started Prantley Records. Once D2 graduated from college, he began working with the record label. He is the director of the Songwriting Division of Prantley Records. Davis, II is currently married to Shelley Monroe-Prantley, a member of Kandy Ladies. He has a son, Davis, III better known as D3. D3 has exhibited musical talent. |
